Check-in begins Friday at 4 pm, where we will settle into our cabins, meet and greet our fellow adventurers, enjoy a nice pasta dinner (carb loading!), and relax by the campfire.

Saturday we paddle! After a hearty breakfast, we will have a brief safety meeting and then set out down the Hocking River, stopping along the way to visit Rockbridge Natural Arch and Waterfall and to enjoy a packed lunch.  Depending on the flow of the river, this trip will take 4 – 5 hours.

After a long day of paddling, it’s time to relax and unwind Saturday evening with a taste of the Logan nightlife, starting with a dinner out at the famously delicious Millstone Southern Smoked BBQ, followed by a local brew sampling at Brewery 33.

Sunday morning you will have the option of sleeping in or enjoying the sunrise from a paddleboard on beautiful Lake Logan, followed by breakfast and a full day of exploring several of Hocking’s majestic wonders (deli lunch included).

Spring is the best time to visit Hocking Hills because the wildflowers are fresh and the waterfalls are flowing. Average daytime highs are in the low 70’s – perfect for adventuring!

What should I pack to wear? It is best to dress in warm layers that you can easily add or shed depending on the outside temperature.  Clothes should be those you don’t mind getting dirty.  The riverbed can be rocky so it is recommended to wear water shoes with good traction.  A light rain jacket is also advisable. We will be keeping close tabs on the weather and give more specific information as our trips approaches.

What about the weather? The weather in May in Hocking Hills is usually pretty good! Average daytime highs are in the low 70’s and overnight lows are in the high 40’s. We will paddle rain or shine. This is Ohio and we try to deal with the fluctuating weather as best as possible. We do not paddle in lightening and we do not paddle if the river presents dangerous conditions (flooding). In the event of either, we will make the necessary adjustments to our schedule, and do our best to ensure we are able to paddle safely at some point throughout the weekend. Other options include paddling Lake Logan or rafting the river.
